About Us

The Friends of Wray Common School is a registered charity (Registration No 270506) and acts as a Parent Teacher Association for the school.

It was originally set up by the parents and staff over 30 years ago, as a means to raise funds to build and maintain a new swimming pool. Over the years the Friends have made many donations to the school, which have provided facilities like:

  • Books for the Library and reading scheme
  • Smartboard and projector for Reception classroom
  • Digital cameras
  • Sensory garden
  • Adventure maze, trim trails, sandpit
  • A new swimming pool cover and much, much more.

We currently have a very active committee who organise various fundraising events during the year and we need parents to help co-ordinate, set up, run and clear away. It’s a great way to be involved with your child’s school and it’s also a great way to meet other parents. However we recognise that many of are working parents, as are most of the Committee members, but even if you can only give an hour of your time, that would be appreciated.

The committee meet twice a term at school and the meetings usually last no longer than an hour and a half.  The meetings are always publicised and everyone is welcome to attend. We are always looking for new ideas so please come along or volunteer to be more involved at one of our events.
