The Learning Zone is a totally safe online area (a virtual learning environment or VLE) where children’s learning is enhanced by using web-based technologies and subscription software both inside and outside of school.
Each child has their own username and password with which they can log on to the Learning Zone. They are members of different rooms where there are a variety of learning and collaborative activities that they can take part in. Whole school projects such as the Mental Maths Passports and Bonkers for Books (a Surrey wide initiative) have rooms on the Learning Zone, words and music for choir and production songs are regularly posted, and gallery and video pages showcase the children’s work. Children who attend Zing! club, and Year 6 school council members, house captains and eco-council reps have extra editing rights allowing them to create and maintain their own pages. In addition, the Digital Leaders have their own area where they post useful information and interactive games for other children to use.
